Uncover the World

Hi all -
Just wondering if we will have anyone joining us on the 10th of October for the Family Tour of Egypt.
We are a family of 4 from Colorado, USA...2 kids...our son is 12 and our daughter is 10.
Looking forward to meeting all of those who will join us on this adventure!

Hi we're booked on this so will be joining you there. We're a family of 4 from Aberdeen, Scotland. Our daughter will be 16 and our son 13. Looking forward to it too. We have been before but it's the first time for the kids. We're going on to Hurghada for 4 days before heading back to Cairo.

Hi Trish -
We are also going to Hurghada for a few days on our own.
Thanks so much for writing! Since this is our first trip and you have been there once before, would you mind answering a few questions? Have you used Egypt Uncovered before? We have been impressed with their service so far. Also, how careful do you women need to be in regards to dress? There isn't great detail in the trip notes in regards to this. Any stomach problem issues with your first trip? We are going to take the usual precautions (like we do when we go to Mexico!), but wondered if you had any other tips.
Thanks so much and really looking forward to meeting you and your family!

We havn't used Egypt Uncovered before but a guy at my office went with them back in February and was complimentary.
We went to Egypt last time back in 1991 so attitudes with respect to womens dress may have changed. It wasn't a big deal, obviously if you're visiting a mosque you need to dress respectfully but generally i found it better to be wearing a loose skirt and t-shirt or thin shirt rather than shorts as it was just cooler but I wore shorts and as I said no problems. I recommend that you carry a scarf that you can either put round your shoulders, over your hair or even tie round your waist if you're wearing shorts but feel uncomfortable.
When we went the brochures were up front about most people getting some sort of upset and we both had a day off as did the majority of the folks on our cruise ship. (I'm hoping this time to get to Kom Ombo and Edfu as that was what I missed). Don't know what it's like now but the reason we voted for the cruise and not the felucca was becasue that was roughly the period that the majority got affected last time and I'd rather be ill on a cruise ship than a felucca! Maybe the guys at Undercover can give more recent updates on this side of things.
One thing they warn about is the hawkers at the sites but we found that if you smiled and were polite they were generally quite pleasant and not overly pushy not like the guys on the beach at Mombasa where we were last year who were really bad and really didn't get the word NO. We took pens and pencils last year to Kenya for the kids and will do the same this year, it's better than sweets. They still appreciate them but maybe not as much as sweets but they don't melt and go sticky in your pocket!
I wonder if there will be any others on the tour?
