Uncover the World

Nile Family Adventure & Egyptian Family Adventure

We are removing the visit to the Pharaonic Village in Cairo from Day 3 of our Family tours. This visit was always intended to be of more interest to the children in the group than the adults and we don't include it in our other tours.
Following on from feedback from of our family groups in 2009, we changed the itinerary slightly so that it was visited in the afternoon after the Egyptian Museum, instead of in the morning. This meant that more time was spent in the Egyptian Museum, and the playground and café at the Pharaonic Village could be used for a while before we transferred to the train station for the overnight journey to Aswan that evening.
However, following more feedback from families travelling recently, we are going to remove the visit altogether. While it has worked better visiting in the afternoon, the general feeling is still that the site is rather tacky and time could be better spent elsewhere.
We will therefore be having some free time in the hotel in the morning, taking an early lunch and visiting Coptic Cairo before touring the Egyptian Museum. There will be plenty of time there to see the Tutankhamun exhibit and visit the mummy room if you wish. We'll then get a bite to eat before heading to the station for the overnight sleeper train journey to Aswan.

We'd like to thank the families who travelled on the tour last year for their feedback and hope this change will improve the tour for everyone doing it this year. Getting feedback like this from our travellers and particularly about what their children felt about the tour is invaluable and we do try and act on it where possible.
