Learning more about Egyptian History

For those of you who love Egyptian history and like me, love learning more about it, here are two suggestions that I've come across recently.

It's not always the case that the documentary channels run fresh new programmes about a subject but the Nat Geo TV channel is currently running a special series on the Secrets of Egypt. The shows are at 9pm (UK) on Tuesday evenings with the first one last night being a spe… Continue

An Indian Summer..

With the build up to the monsoon well under way in India resulting in 40 degree plus temperatures throughout the plains of India, a lot of people tend to dismiss tours to the sub-continent at this time of year due to the temperature and impending rains. Although the build up is pretty tough… Continue

Hi, yeah is it possible to visit Tibet independantly or do you have to book a package tour? Also do you have to come back into Nepal after the tour or can you stay in China and move on?

Hi Ben
It's nice to put a face to the telephone voice.
Thanks for the comment about my composite photo. I do them to reduce the number of prints you have lying about in boxes. 6 or 7 of the composites and you have about 40 - 50 images.

Regards
Paul

Hi Cathy,

It is hard to say whether immunisations are necessary or not, as we can only state the general information, and not give official medical advice.

The fact is this - There are no compulsory immunisations for Egypt - i.e., you will not be asked to produce a medical card detailing your vacinnations when you enter the country.

The only exception for this is if you have travelled through an endemic Yellow Fever zone in the last 6 months.

Having said that none are compulsory, we would always recommend following your doctor's advice with vacinnations, and cannot advise you to ignore them. The normal recommendations for Egypt are Tetanus, Polio, Typhoid and Hepatitis C.

You may well find it cheaper to go to a specialist travel medicine clinic, rather than your family doctor (if that is an option for you where you live).

I hope this is of some help to you - if you have any other questions then please do not hesitate to contact me.

Hi Ben! It sounds like you travel a quite a bit. My family and I will be visiting Egypt for the first time this summer. do you know if RECOMMENDED vaccination is an absolute necessity? There are too many of them and it increases the total of trup cost by so much. If you could reply, it will help me decide. Thanks,
