Finally leave for Egypt on Saturday. I think i have everything sorted out and i can't wait to get it underway. Cases almost packed, arranged with parents to pop in and feed the guinea pigs daily and now just waiting to finish my last couple of days at work.
I've been on plenty holidays in the past but this is going to be quite different to what i'm used to.
I just hope i haven't underestimated the amount of money i'll need as i'm not bringing much...

Every year an organised/unorganised charity event called the Plymouth to Banjul Rally takes place. The challenge consists of finding a cheap, left-hand drive car and, with minimal modification, driving it across the Sahara Desert from the UK to Banjul in The Gambia. Once there the cars are auctioned off and the money donated to local charities. Sounds simple right? Well actually it was.

Just returned from a trek to Annapurna Base Camp which was amazing. It was a wonderful experience to be in such a remote and serene place surrounded by some of the world's highest mountains. Trekking up towards ABC you invariably had sight of the majestic peak of Machhhapuchhere which was a wonderful experience in itself. Add to this the culture and the people and the opportunity to see Kathmandu and Pohkara the trip was really several rolled into one. My guide and porter were great. Madan my gu…

This was certainly an experience. My Wife and I are not historians but have an interest in the different cultures around the World and the nearest we had come to this sort of experience was in the Yucatan Peninsular of Mexico, rich in Mayan culture. We knew a little about the Pyramids and the Sphinx plus the Valley of the Kings but the number of Temples and the size of them took our breath away
Our group comprised 2 couples from the UK and 1 couple from California. We were named the Lovely group…

Having just returned from a trip to Dahab, I really must thank Ben Whitehead, for his fantastic organisational skills, his intuition at knowing exactly what sort of travellers we are, and for using the best guide in Dahab, Hany who accommodated our needs and requirements with flair, talent and wonderful humour.
Initially the trip started badly, due to no fault of Egypt uncovered I might add, We made the mistake of flying with Thomson from DSA, the sea of football shirts holding back enormous be…

We were very impressed with our trip to Egypt and Egypt Uncovered made sure that we had no difficulties during our tour. They also took care of the small things such as provision of water etc, which showed that the tour was well thought through. All coaches were air-conditioned and in very good condition which was a relief as we spent significant amount of time touring visitor attractions in the coach. The other thing that impressed us was the size of our group. We were only 15 of us which made…

Hi Guys
I’ve just got back from Egypt, and I wanted to tell you a little bit about my tour. Although I have travelled to Egypt several times before, this was my first time since I started working for Egypt Uncovered. I joined the
Nile Explorer tour on the 23rd May and what a great time I had!!
I arrived in Cairo a few days early to do a few Hotel inspections and meet the rest of our team, inspecting the Hotels was very useful as…

Just a quick report back on a wonderful holiday.
We are a mixed bunch - one Irish and one Scot plus their two kids and another Irish pal, living in Doha and spending Easter in Egypt. Arrived into Cairo and transferred to our hotel the Pyramid Park. Despite the sign in the lobby, if this is a 5* property then I'm the goddess Isis (about whom more later!). Pretty disappointing start to the visit - five of us wedged into a twin room with three pull-out beds and no availability for an extra room.
Me…

For those of you who love Egyptian history and like me, love learning more about it, here are two suggestions that I've come across recently.
It's not always the case that the documentary channels run fresh new programmes about a subject but the
Nat Geo TV channel is currently running a special series on the Secrets of Egypt. The shows are at 9pm (UK) on Tuesday evenings with the first one last night being a spe…

With the build up to the monsoon well under way in India resulting in 40 degree plus temperatures throughout the plains of India, a lot of people tend to dismiss tours to the sub-continent at this time of year due to the temperature and impending rains. Although the build up is pretty tough…

Having just returned from the Splendours of the Nile (the Superior tour), we thought we’d share our experiences. We had a hugely enjoyable holiday and are very glad that we had the experience of Egypt Uncovered to help us.
OUR GROUP: The 24 superior tourists were divided into 2 separate groups of 12, each with their own guide... Ehab took the all grown-up group A (Listen for Ehab's whistle, you'll know where they are!). Our family of four with son (12) and daughter (15) were part…

At Uncover the World, we take any complaints that we may get very seriously, and always encourage our travellers to give us feedback after their trips as this helps us to continually improve our itineraries and service. However, sometimes there's nothing we can do, as in some of these lighthearted examples below, taken from the…

Hi Everyone,
I thought I would just write a short blog explaining where I have been the last few days. I decided to leave my colleagues at one of our busiest times and head off to the French Alps expecting lots of snow only to discover that it all came down here in the UK instead!
Thankfully, there was plenty of snow already there and it was great to get some exercise in the high alps and out of the office for a few days.
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to do any snowboarding but had to keep to sk…
