Here at Uncover the World, we often get requests for trips to India so I'm very pleased to announce that our updated India section is now up and running on our main website -

This is something that I have personally been working on recently and I'm very happy that we now offer a wider range of tailor made Indian itineraries for those of you with an urge to explore the sub-continent.
India is a huge country with many different options available for touring. Most people who travel to India go to visit the Golden Triangle which includes trips to Delhi, Agra (for the Taj Mahal) and Jaipur. A tour to this part of India can take in the incredible city of Delhi, a fantastic, virbant place with the wide leafy avenues of New Delhi merging into the old, medieval streets and mosques around Old Delhi. From here, you can then proceed to Agra to take in the immaculate Taj Mahal at sunrise or sunset. After Agra, we normally suggest a tour of Rajasthan, visiting the old Palaces of Jaipur, the fort town of Fatehpur Sikri, and if time allows, a trip out into the desert.
The Golden Triangle is obviously the number one tourist route in India and rightly so, but for people interested in visiting other areas of the country, there is a wide range of options open to you! You can explore the magnificent Himalayas, taking in the hill stations of Shimla, or Dharamsala and the home of the Dalai Lama, or head out to the Thar Desert in Rajashtan, combining camel treks with ancient Mughal towns.
There are also many wildlife parks within striking distance of Delhi - Corbett National Park or Ranthambore Park - the latter is widely believed to be the best place to spot one of India's endangered tigers.
For those with an interest in Indian religions, you can visit the source of the Ganges near the Hindu town of Rishikesh, or make a trip to one of the world's oldest cities at Varanasi (also on the Ganges) and experience the home of Sitar music, and where Buddha made some of his first teachings. You can also visit the immaculate Sikh Golden Temple in Amritsar.
It's also possible to include some beach time while in India. Most people head to the beaches of Goa and Kerala but both these areas have a lot more to them than just beaches. Being a former Portuguese colony up until the 1960's means that there is a lot of Catholic influence in the area as well as some interesting spice plantations.
Kerala, is one of India's most progressive states and away from the coast, is home to the tranquil Keralan backwaters which are just perfect to laze away on from the comfort of a rice barge.
I have personally spent around 18 months travelling in India, from the moonlike landscapes of Ladakh in the North, through the central Deccan plains, to the beautiful temple towns in and around Tamil Nadu in the southeast. Throughout this time, I have developed a real passion for India and its people and I am more than happy to offer any advice with regards to travelling in this wonderful and truly unique country.
I have recently added a photo album, that has a few pictures of my various travels throughout India - please feel free to have a look, it may even help you decide where you want to go!
